I have begun to search border systems for rescue situations. The task seems daunting. There are too many systems to cover and how can one possibly be at the right place at the right time within two hours of an given jettison? I am convinced that is the Disciples are so save these people, divine guidance is most assuredly needed. We could also use the guidance and help of other pilots. This task began with a pilot helping us. Other pilots are needed too. If you come across container with slaves in them, rescue those slaves, contact one of us Disciples, and we will conduct them safely to one of our centers.
May the One who created us all, aid us in this recsue endeavor. |

39 former slaves were rescued tonight from two separate containers. Their stories and mine are quite interesting. While rescuing 10 slaves from a second container, I came attack by the pilot who had not jumped out of system. My adrenaline overcame my good sense, and I neglected to check to see if the pilot was still in system. The Aleithea is a very fast ship and I was able to get out of range and warp to safety with only shield damage. He left system and I returned and finished the rescue operation.
Bu the real story is the first container... When I came upon it, I jettisoned a fresh container as there was not room in my frigate for all the slave. Here is where the interesting part begins. In the container were 29 slaves, 5 slavers, and 2 slaver hounds. Now the story gets thicker. The whole group was jettisoned together when the pilot realized he was jumping into Caldari space. Why is the interesting part. The slavers had booked passage and the former slave owner had included two slaver hounds to help the slavers keep control until the slaves could be sold on the black market. The big surprise to the slavers was that the slaver hounds had been tamed and adopted by the very slaves being transported. While on board, the slaves had taken over the habitation compartment and taken the slavers hostage. When the pilot got to the border, he jettisoned the lot.
When I got there, I rescued who I could while the rest and the slaver hounds stayed behind and guarded the slavers until I returned. The rescued former slaves have requested permission to keep their "pets." What a remarkable story.
Now, what do we do with the slavers? |

As we offer our Matriculation services, we are finding that the families and individuals we rescue are anxious to be involved in the establishment of a planet based colony and community. Those with expertise in agriculture, energy management, computer and robotics operation, chemistry, etc have come forward and are now preparing the planning and coordination with Edaine's crew for the upcoming construction. We have managed to bring several of the Matriculants to the planet to help survey the best place to establish the core facility. Excitement is building.
However, we are no closer to a decision on what to do with the slavers. We are considering taking them first to our HQ in Korama so they are far away from those we have rescued. We would like more information, feedback and ideas on just what to do with them.
No further rescues have been made but we are watching and staying alert. |

97 former slaves were rescued today. One container contained 70 slaves and another contained 27. I jettisoned a new container and transported all 97 over. I then did the math and realized that 4 trips of 24 passengers each would equal 96. The fifth trip would be for one remaining passenger who would have to wait alone while all his comrades were safely back at the center. As you might guess, this honor was aggressively claimed by the oldest of the group. His name is Gladius and I will always remember his pride and bravery and also the respect that everyone there showed him. Welcome to freedom, Gladius!
Now I am trying to overcome my tendency to get excited on these operations so I can get information about those who abandoned these people to die. I was half successful. We would like to begin to publish the names of the pilots and their corporations here on this page.
When I scanned the first container and saw 70 people, I lost my nerve. I brought up the pilot name, then his corp. I entered the name of the corp in my notes and immediately forgot the pilot's name. I calmed down on the second container and got both the pilot's name and Corp.

69 additional former slaves entered Matriculation Center #2 program this morning. The men, women and children we found in a single jettisoned container. Three trips were needed to rescue the whole group, but it went quickly. Center # two has appointed Gladius as their representative in all matter related to the Disciples of Ston. He is a capable and compassionate man. The new community is organizing itself well and families are settling into the routine of educating and caring for their children. All hands are planning and preparing for the planetary colony. We have managed to take several groups of technical experts among those we have rescued to the planet for survey trips. We hope to coordinate with Center #1 before long so that our efforts are integrated as we move forward. This center has now grown to 205 men, women, and children and 2 pets. When Ston and I change places again, we will transport the slave traders back to Korama where they will be held until a decision is made about where we will take them for justice.
As promised...

I must tell you a story of something that happend here at Center #2 yesterday. While everyday tasks and life was going on at the station, the docking com was heard to announce the docking of a Interon V. "The Freedom Train" is now docking. Everyone's ears perked. Who was it? It was Edaine stopping in after anchoring the secure container out by the gate we are watching. He had changed the name of his Interon from "service barge" (boring) to "freedom train." There was some excitement especially among the children, who never seem to bore at the sight of a ship coming into dock. Better yet, Edaine had treats to hand out to all the children. Thanks Edaine

We had good news today. 50 more former slaves were rescued and in an unusual way. I had placed an abandoned can with the coordinates to our slave shelter. The coordinates were in a bookmark titled, "place your slaves here." When I returned to the area, I found that someone had transported 50 slaves into the abandoned can near the gate, not the slave shelter. I am so glad I went back before two hours had expired.
Optimism tells me, that the pilot who did this meant well. Thanks pilot. The Deity knows your heart in the matter.
Elder Gladius says that the community is growing and organizing itself well. I asked him, at Ston's request to ask if any former slaves wish to be placed with a holder. He said that he will honor that request for freedom's sake. So far, Tobias has been the only one. |

I was able to procure two items today of importance for our team of former slaves as they prepare for the planetary colony to be built. One is organic soil samples to begin agricultural studies. The other is for our engineers, scientists, and software programmers. Coffee. Yes coffee. Now they they can broad over a rich dark roast as they study schematics and production schedules. The soil samples were received with interest, but the coffee was received with excitement.

339 former slaves were rescued from a single jet can yesterday. It took seven trips to safely bring the whole group to Center #2. Edaine has arrived and has agreed to help consolidate our centers in preparation for the building of our planetary center.
I have decided not to list the pilot on this occasion because I think that the pilot may have wanted the slaves to be rescued. I came upon the gate and noted a blue coded container. I assumed it had been a Concord action, followed by a salvage operation, leaving a container that was abandoned. However, when I scanned the container, there were 339 living souls aboard. I knew that our GSC was near, and that if I could get them in there I would have more time and they would be more secure and comfortable.
The inescapable fact that the Disciples of Ston are composed of reletively inexperienced pilots was brought to home yesterday. I slap my forehead with my palm in self exasperation in not figuring this one out right away. What am I talking about? We set up a giant secure container some distance from a gate where slaves are frequently dumped. We modified it with living quarters in hopes that pilots would bring their slaves there instead of using fragile jet cans.
Stupid me. All anchor-able containers use Plank field generators for matter compression. Duh, what was I thinking. I am very thankful that the safety protocols of the container transporter interface prevented the transfer. We called on Edaine, and he arrived and promptly removed the container. How did I miss this one. This is elementary physics. I used a regular, but fresh jet can to keep them alive while I began the 7 trips back to the center.
This is the largest single rescue we have performed since beginning this operation. While relieved to be alive, many of the former slaves were anxious about what was happening to them. This anxiety melted away when, back at the center, they were greeted by other, former slaves and by the Elders who warmly welcomed them.
We have asked Edaine to put his other work on hold and expedite the planetary operation as our numbers have now increased significantly.

Ston, you beat yourself up with your own idealism.
Imagine for a moment that you are a pacifist that lives in a society that still uses execution as a form of punishment for its worst criminals. As a pacifist, would you refrain from reporting a murder because the murderer might receive the death penalty? Some may answer yes to this. Those who hold to the most idealistic form of pacifism, may choose to not report the crime or give testimony against the murderer. But then they must live with their contribution to the continued actions of a murderer who escapes justice. But not all are pacifists in that sense. Ston, you and I are functional pacifists but not idealistic pacifists. Your heart easily bleeds and you easily take too much responsibility for too many things.
I can only presume that you are upset about giving the name of a slave trader. Worried are you, that he may suffer violence as a result? Let me remind you of something that every slave trader knows. When they choose to jettison live humans into space, they know that their deeds at that moment become public knowledge. Concord rules assure that they are clearly identified as the owner of the jet can used. Don't let your heart bleed for these criminals. They know the risk of justice. You are NOT responsible for revealing the slave trader's name! The slave trader is responsible the moment he chooses to jettison those slaves into space. At that moment any consequences become that person's full responsibility.
I do not believe that we should stop publishing the names of slave traders. They need to be shamed for their actions. If militias pick up on their actions, they know very well that specific risk at the moment of their crime. We live in a messy society that is not "ideal." Even the pacifist must choose from time to time to bear part of the societal responsibility for punishing the wrong-doer. We have to live with this reality, and it isn't comfortable for non-violent people like ourselves.
Take all the time you need to sort out your feelings, Ston, but I don't believe you are over the hill intellectually or in any other matter. I am sorry if I picked on you too much. Repeating what was already public record was not an act of violence on your part. You think that your action may cause bloodshed. I disagree. The action of the slave trader is the culpable action, and the slave trader is responsible for any justice that comes upon him for his actions. |

We have completed the setup on our third Matriculation Center. Ston will serve Center #1, Edaine will serve Center #2 and I will serve Center #3. Ston will serve the smallest of the three centers per his request. All of us will come under the direction of the Elders and will serve to supply the centers with requested materials, transport residents to and from the centers per their request, and engage in continued rescue ops. Our duties will include purchasing necessary materials and hiring any outside professionals needed to adequately serve the communities.
We have placed the Planetary colony idea on hold but have not given up hope that someday we can establish it fully. For now, only very small numbers can be transported to planetary surfaces and only very secretly.
Once we have all three Centers up and under the administration of the Elders, we will try to conduct a census and report the data here.
We continue to request that Governmental authorities provide a means to change the legal status of these rescued individuals to that of citizen. |

36 former slaves were rescued this morning from the cold of space. They join the community in Center #3 and begin their jhourney into freedom, such as it is. The Disciples of Ston are more frustrated with the limitations placed upon former slaves than the former slaves are. They are such thankful people. It reminds me of how I felt when I was first free. I need to reclaim that simple satisfaction again.
While I do not mean to type cast anyone, I had been told that Gallenteans value personal freedom and oppose slavery. Why then do Gallenteans tolerate the slave trader woman Elisa Boirelle? Another rescue of 10 former slaves this afternoon. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the pilot's name. I was targeted by what is termed in the vernacular a "suicide ganker." I quickly rescued the people and warped out. I was able to get the corporation name from the aggression timer, however. These were very frightened souls who were close to death. And the dispatch withwhich we had to escape the scene didn't help their anxiety. They are being well-cared for at the center.

We will not begin immediately as I need to test equipment and figure out what to expect and get comfortable using it. We will start with one transport and them move on from there. It is likely that our first transports will involve reuniting former slaves with families that live on stations in Republic space.
If only the State, Republic, and Federation would provide a means to change the legal status of these people from slave to free person, then every one could move about safely. But the governments have their heads up their poop shoots. |

Rescue #3 involved a single former slave. When I transported him aboard, he told me a story of how he promised God, that if he was somehow saved from death, he would do all he could to aid in the plite of those enslaved. I told him of our work and "Farmer" (that is his name) said that he wanted to be a part of it. When we got back to the center Gladius processed Farmer and welcomed him into the fold. Later, they approached me with an idea. We have wanted to test transporting former slaves into free space. The scanner transponders in slave's bodies give off a signal that can be received by scanners. We needed to know if our cloaking technology would hide that signature sucessfully under actual conditions. Farmer was our volunteer. He is also a fit man and strong in endurance. We needed those qualities, because we also wanted to dock in Caldari space. We needed to be prepared.
All went without a hitch. As we were preparing to enter Caldari Space, we found another Jet Can with the 65 former slaves mentioned above. We had to delay the test while we took two trips to evacuate the group. When that was finished, we entered Caldari space undetected. We landed on a station in Caldari space exitted, stayed on the station for a little while and then left. We returned to the Center across the border. The Elutheria performed beyond expectation. We can begin transporting these former slaves into Republic, Federation, and Caldari space.

It is the sound of trauma and relief all mixed together. 425 humans, men, women, and children, whole families, were left to die. Now they are safe and their needs are being tended to.
What brazen disregard for life can one person stoop to? How can anyone see this and not be impacted?
What if I hadn't gotten there before the two hours were up? What then? 425 people would have died a horrible death. When massive rescues like this occur, I cannot help but think about the rescues we miss. How many go unrescued? How many die that we know nothing about?

The Elutheria was put through its paces again today. First, I transported 40 former slaves, a group of scholars and students to our Academic Learning Center at our facility in Caldari space. This group consist of primarily those who were trained in partical and wave physics while slaves. They wished to continue their studies.
While in the area, I transported 3 former slaves who were rescued by another pilot and transferred to us. Ston had asked me to use the Elutheria to take them back to our Matriculation Center in Amarr space.
When you transport former slaves through State, Federation, or Republic territory, there appears a skull and crossbones symbol next to the passengers in the cargo manifest. The moment you pass into Empire space, the symbol vanishes and you no longer need to cloak. As far as the law is concerned, we are slave smugglers. This will have to do until the laws are changed and these rescued people receive official status as citizens.
Gallente, Minmatar, and Caldari governments will never admit this, but it is likely that they are afraid of the economic impact of changing the status of rescued slaves. What would they "do" with all these people? They would have to spend precious resources.
The silence of the governments tells much. |

I have a couple things to report.
First, I was able to perform our first transport of former slaves to reunite with family in Republic space. This was a Brutor pair, grandparents to be exact. They were enslaved when their settlement was raided. Their children were killed but their grandchildren survived and live in Rens.
The plan was to contact officials in Auga who would verify the identity of my passengers and then direct us on to Rens to where the reunion would occur. The final destination was one of the SOE stations in Rens. At the end of the day, the mission was a success and they are now with family and under the protection of the Sisters in the Rens system.
However, there is some serious self-evaluation that I must do and I am afraid that I must grade myself poorly. "D minus" maybe... When we arrived safely in Auga and dicked at the Brutor tribe station there. What happened next shows my inexperience and tendency to panic when caught off guard. It also illustrates the need to plan every step and procedure very carefully when in 0.4 space and below. When I exited the station, I should have immediately warped to the gate, but instead I kept thinking about getting far enough away from the station to activate my cloak. There was an outlaw nearby. I was targetted and fired upon before I could cloak. I panicked. I should have immediately warped away instead of thinking about cloaking.
He was able to drop my shields and half my armor before I was able to cloak, get my head about me and warp. I din't even know where I was warping. It ended up being a planet in the system. I do not know how I escaped. The outlaw may have simple stopped firing at me. I don't know who he was. Many of the details are a blur because I panicked. Grandma and Grandpa Brutor just laughed at me as would be expected.
As I realized that I would probably be destroyed and maybe podded, I thought about my passengers that would be killed for good and about a reunion that wouldn't happen. I was lucky or perhaps blessed by the Divine One. Who knows? The point is that I panicked when I made the incorrect decision to try to gain distance from the station rather than immediately warping. Bad mistake as a result of poor planning and inability to anticipate possible danger. This is maybe OK when I am by myself, but I had passengers.
What to do? I need to get out into low sec and practice where the risk is only me. |

19 former slaves were rescued early this afternoon. It was a unique situation that I have never encountered before. I approached the border gate and there were two abandoned (blue) cans, one labelled "free slaves" and the other labelled "*expletive* slaves." I set course for the latter and transported 19 souls aboard. while doing that, someone else retrieved the others. They warped out and I did not see who it was. We may never know what happened to those in the other can. We hope that your lives from this point will respected and given the dignity they deserve.
I don't feel like commenting right now on the kind of person who would label a can in such a way. It is interesting that someone took the time to label the cans at all and to abandon them. Ask the pilot listed below if you wish.

This morning's rescue was one of those interesting poetic justice sorts of situations. Along with 32 former slaves were found 4 slave traders and 10 slaver hounds on board. We interview those rescued to get an idea of the slaver hounds and whether or not they can be retrained and kept as pets. In some cases, the creatures have become attached to the former slaves and those rescued request to keep them.
The slave traders will be taken to our criminal detention facilities in Korama.

21 former slaves entered our Matriculation program today after being rescued by a brave pilot of the Khanid Kingdom. We appreciate his willingness to take the time not only to help these former slaves but also to rescue 10 Marines, 160 Militants, 21 Slaves, 20 Tourists, 1 VIP who were also abandoned in space. There were also slave traders which he kept and will be returning to Amarr. We are taking care of the rest until they or authorities decide where they are to go. More on this in my regular log. |

The Disciples of Ston commend you for your brave actions. It is gratifying to see a growing group of pilots beginning to actively rescue slaves who have been abandoned in space. Some options: 1. Our Matriculation Centers are in Amarr space where we can move freely without danger. We have secured corporate sponsorship and use of facilities as well as the help of Republic Security Services in maintaining our Centers in Amarr space. We have received rescued former slaves from other pilots from time to time if you are interested. 2. For those former slaves who request immediate transport out of Amarr Space, use of a covert ops frigate is quite effective. Our Cheetah, the "Elutheria" has room for 40 passengers. I have made 3 successful trips taking former slaves into Republic and Caldari space. Gaufres, we stand by to assist in any way should you wish our help. Thanks Again. |

Thank you Mr. Sadik. We appreciate you mentioning your program. It is good for pilots to have more than one option. There needs to be multiple programs that focus on freedom and reintegration into free society. I hope many will utilze your program as well as ours. This is especially important now that there are those who wish to rescue these individuals only to return them to slavery. We must all redouble our efforts for freedom. |

In another note, we have wanted to provide the highest level of self-determination for those we rescue. I have provided information to our Matriculants about the Electus Matari's Freedom Program and our willingness to transfer any Matriculants who wish to enroll in that program. I will be contacting the Electus Matari to make arrangments for any that wish to do that.

It was a very good day for our Matriculation Program. Our goal has been to offer as much self-determination as possible for those we rescue. The goal of matriculation is to help these former slaves become part of communities of their choice. Freedom of choice was exercised today by a group of ten residents of Center #3. When they heard of the Electus Matari Freedom Program, they wanted to be a part of it.
I contacted Mr. Sadik and we arranged transfer. I wish to commend those I worked with today for their professionalism and courteous manners. All went very well. I said goodbye to 10 very excited friends as they took their first steps in to choosing their own destinies.
The Elutheria performed very well and we passed without notice into Republic space where the transfer was made. Mr. Sadik and Mr. Ebbon were a pleasure to work with.
This is the kind of thing we have hoped for from the beginning of this program. Today was a good day. |

We plead with all pilots, no matter what side of the slavery debate you are on, please do not transport any passengers, be they slaves, slavers, slaver hounds, or any living beings on to any secure can advertised as a depot in border areas.
These containers use Planck field generators that compress matter at a quantum level and will kill any living thing transported aboard them. Please, for mercy's sake do not transport anyone aboard these containers.
If you rescue people from space, please give them to the care of whomever you trust but do not kill them by transporting them aboard any Planck (secure) container. |

There is a fascinating dynamic that we have observed in our rescue work. Several times now including today, we have rescued groups of Former slaves, Slavers (slave traders) and slaver hounds. Depending on how long the can has been in space and how close to death these groups are, there is an interesting psychology the emerges.
Former slaves are used to having death hanging over them; having the threat of harm in their faces daily. For many, though not all, this is their life experience. When in the jet can where death is around the corner, these small communities of former slaves encourage, comfort and strengthen one another.
Slavers too, change their tune. The Slave trader is used to having power over others. They are used to thinking of themselves as in control of their destiny and the destinies of others. Often times, these slavers bring along their brutally trained slaver hounds to guard what they consider a commodity to be bought and sold. As man and animal approach death, it is not the slaver that is obeyed by the slaver hounds, but the former slaves. Why is this so? Slaver hounds are trained to provoke fear and submit to power. They sense it. At these times, the all prideful slavers become meek, fearful, tearful and pathetic as death approaches. The former slaves gather themselves and face with integrity and dignity what they have had to face their whole lives. The slaver hounds do not need to be retrained, they instinctively find new masters in the power of these former slaves as they face death.
8 slavers found the tables turned today when the pilot they had contracted and paid, dumped them along with the illegal slave cargo of 60 former slaves and 7 slaver hounds to die in the cold of space. These slave traders soon discovered that "their place in life" was not so assured after all. They will soon be on their way to detention facilities in Korama. As we do not support the death penalty, even for slavers, they will be treated humanely until we receive assurances of non-capital forms of disposition are rendered.
This group of 60 slaves were brutally treated by their masters and by the slavers who were transporting them for sale elsewhere. In spite of their treatment, they entered Center #3 with heads held high as they were welcomed to freedom by Elder Gladius and the Elder council. Slavers were led away to temporary holding facilities with heads held low in shame. We do not euthanize slaver hounds. We find it unnecessary as they adapt to freedom just as humans adapt to freedom.
Center #3 passed the 2000 resident population with this rescue today.

Sometimes at border crossings, one will encounter a blue jet can. Often they are unlabeled, but sometimes they are designated with descriptions of what is inside. Regardless of what these cans contain, they seldom remain unemptied for long, especially at a busy crossing. The exception would be one that contains slaves. These often remain until destroyed; the "cargo" perishing in the harshness of space. I came across one such can today. It was labelled "free." There were 45 living, still breathing people inside. "Free," now that is both meaningful and ironic. These individuals have taken their first steps into freedom today.
I do not know anything about the pilot who left them other than his name, race, and corporation. I do know that by labelling the can, he invited people to look and take without fear of attack. Today, right or wrong, that simple fact merits a difference in how I list this pilot's name. I will not attach the words "Wall of Shame" to the listing. I will merely state the facts.

Fascinating, Ston. I am glad you were there. The Disciples routinely check jet cans especially at gates for just such things.
It must have been close to the same time that I was able to rescue 50 former slaves who were jettisoned into space by their Khanid slave trader. I nver get used to the callous indifference to basic human rights that these slave traders have.
Although we have been vigilant for several days, we have made few rescues. This is the odd part of our work. We do not wish for this to happen to people, but when it does we wish to be there to rescue them. So, when we make few rescues, it is hard to know how to feel about it. Either it is good, because pilots are not dumping people into space or it it is bad, because we are missing it when it happens. either way, the work goes on.

You can see the details below on the wall of shame. AN interesting note is that we found the same corporation pilots showing up twice in the same day. This has not happened before, so special shame goes to STD Contractors. The first former slave rescued today had some hair raising stories to tell. He was what is referred to as an "elite slave." These are slaves whose life is very brutal. They are relegated to hard, hard labor. This former slave was the son of an Amarrian criminal whose sentence included generational slavery. For now we will keep his name confidential. I asked him if he had an interest in returning to Amarrian society if the opportunity were presented. No was his answer today. He may change his mind over time. For now, he is being taken care of my the Matari Elders.

To catch up, two rescues were conducted last night and one this morning by my circadian rhythm. Last night's operation happened when I came upon two cans. The First contained 10 people running out of air and running out of hope. Once they were aboard and being toended to by the crew, we went on to the second can. We would have left it be, because it appeared to have been a result of an attack, but there was an exotic dancer on board. We rescued her and brought her back with the others. THe rescue this morning involved 8 people. I will not classify the middle pliot under the "wall of shame" but rather under a "shadow of uncertainty" until we know more about the circumstances of this "entertainer."

Both groups were safely and quickly shuttled to Center #3. We have also transported roughly equal numbers to three different locations where our four centers are located. SOme may think that this would present an administrative nightmare, but those rescued are hard working people. For the first time for most of them, they are working hard as free people and for each other, not a master/owner. What a difference this makes. There are times when the smart thing to do is to say nothing or leave a note worthy item unreported. Is the smart thing always the right thing? We don't think so. Sometimes we feel compelled to report something that will give the enemies of freedom verbal ammunition or cause to criticize our work. This is one such occasion.
While the Disciples of Ston are non-violent and while we try to avoid the glorification of violence, we realize that history is full of violence and violent symbols are a part of every people's history and even identity. This is also true of the communities of people we are rescuing. Recently, the Elders requested that a relic be smuggled into Amarr space and delivered to one of our matriculation centers to be included among other items of important historical and cultural significance. This item is the Khumaak. For a shorter explanation, one may also read this description of the Khumaak.
I will not go into the story here as the reader can accomplish that research on his or her own. However, I wanted to mention that the Khumaak is illegal to transport through Amarr space. We are used to smuggling people out of Amarr space, but not smuggling items into Amarr space. The Khumaak is illegal in Amarr because it symbolized the violent struggle of the Matari to free themseves from the hands of their slave holding oppressors. The Kumaak cuts both ways, for it was that uprising that led to the near extermination of the Starkmanir tribe. Apparently, though, Amarr fear it more. The Khumaak used to be a sepor of sorts used to symbolize the power and prestige of the most influential of Amarrian holders. Now it has come to represent the uprising against those holders, not just for the Stakmanir but for all the tribes.
We have brought a Khumaak to Center #3 in response to the request of the Elders. I want to thank Ston, who actually was the one who found the Khumaak. He informed me of it, I informed the Elders and then transported it into Amarr space aboard the Elutheria. It is now prominently displayed along side the Amarrian token of submission. Truly the rescued people are shaping their own community. |

100 new trainers and 41 hounds were safely transported out of Amarr space and to our vocational Center in Korama today. These trainers are all former slaves who successfully befriended slaver hounds while they were what are called "elite slaves" under brutal working conditions before they were rescued. Now they are joining the training staff at our service dog program in Korama. Part of the increase of staff members is so that current trainers can learn new techniques from the staff that arrived today. We now have a total of 84 dogs being trained as service dogs in the center.
20 slave traders were also transported to the detention center in Korama where they will join 40 other inmates, bringing the population of inmates to 60. We have recently increased our staff level at the detention center to accomodate the growing population of slave trader inmates housed there.
All of these passengers came from Matriculation Center #1.
No problems were encountered during transport. Cloak deactivated only once when we passed close to another vessel, but we were able to re-cloak and were not scanned once during the journey. |

29 lives were rescued from two death cans today. On the Second rescue, there were three jet cans; only one contained living humans. The others were probably wrecks that had been salvaged but not looted. There is always a palpable tension that is felt when approaching the cans and it is not relieved until the people are back safe in the center. Quite the universe we live in.

Shaera,
Greetings sister of my tribe. Your story is a common one up to the point where you sought change. That is where many capsuleers just continue in the violence and selfishness symptomatic of their power. You, however, chose to to recognize truth and to turn to a better way. Your friend and Mentor "Verin" is indeed a bringer and teacher of truth for that is what her name means.
Sister, the Disciples of Ston believe in second chances. Some consider us naive to believe that people can change. We prefer to believe that Capsuleers are gifted for higher purposes than senseless violence and constant accumulation of wealth at the expense of others. There is room for you in our organization or even as someone who helps in the cause apart from being part of our corp. The choice would be yours. Those who join the Disciples must espouse non-violence. Not everyone can do this. Disciples also must not damage the corp rep to the point where we cannot work in all areas of space. You would be welcome to submit application at the House of Records in Korama. We would also be happy to work with you in other ways as we have with many pilots who share our values.
We would be glad to provide transport for the former slaves you have rescued to our Matriculation Centers. I am particularly keen on meeting Verin. She sounds like the kind of Elder leadership we are looking for in our programs.
Send me a message as to how many need transport and where they are located and we can arrange a time to meet.
Peace to you from the Disciples of Ston.

The Vocational center requested seeds and soil for their agronomy program and the Academic center requested carbon for their organic chemistry class. Both have been delivered along with some capsuleer bodies for our cadaver dog branch of the service dog program.
Now I am off to meet Ms. Taam and hopefully Elder Verin as well. In my absence, Ston, Edaine and TaPang will cover rescue ops.

342 rescued people with a new chance at life, freedom, self-determination individually and as a community... Because of one changed heart. The Disciples of Ston thank Shaera Taam for rescuing these people from slavery and some from certain death.
What a great delight to meet the Elder Verin. Being in her presence is instantly like being with a wise grandmother. There is a sense of both fearful respect and complete ease, if that is possible. We need this lady at our centers. There is trauma, there is hurt; but there is healing in the hands and face of this woman that can touch those in trauma and those hurt.
A big thank you to Ms. Taam. Peace to you and peace to the 342 free souls you helped. |

GÇ£Welcome on board the Redemption,GÇ¥ I said to Elder Verin before preparing to re-connect to my pod and prepare for the trip from Eldulf back to Matriculation Center #3. Welcome on board were the words spoken to the 341 others who accompanied her. I am usually in pod by this time of preparations for most journeys. This time, I wanted to greet those who would journey with me as they came on board. It also gave me one last chance to look over this brand new vessel. Other than one short orientation flight, this was the first real test of the Blockade Runner class vessel, we had designated, GÇ£Redemption.GÇ¥ I enjoyed the hum and distinct smell of massive CPUGÇÖs running. Cloaking technology requires enormous Computer resources. Once everyone was on board, I interfaced with my pod and began to make underway.
I felt that the most dangerous part of the trip would be undocking and getting to warp to the first gate quickly. Station proximity prevents immediate cloak, but usually one can warp before scanned by customs. Today, the station perimeter was swarming with customs ships and patrols, but we got to warp and before gate arrival, I cloaked. All went very well and we almost cleared Republic space, and then it happened.
I must have passed within close range of another ship as we approached the Abudban gate, because the ship decloaked. I immediately hit the jump command but not before I was scanned and tagged. Here is the weird partGǪI thought we were toast, but something very strange occurred. I will describe it in as much detail as I can; perhaps a reader or two can explain it.
The gate activated at exactly the same time as the customs notification and warning appeared. I did not respond to the Customs alert note and it left my com screen. The nav registered our ship as having jumped, but there was a lag of at least 20-25 seconds where nothing happened. We did not materialize in Abudban in the proximity of the gate. During that time, I received a customs notification declaring penalties that had been assessed to me. It appears below as I received it:
Contraband Confiscation From: Minmatar Republic Sent: 2011.12.12 15:10
Empire: Minmatar Republic Solar System: Avesber System Security Level: 0.8
Found Contraband:
Slaves, Qty: 342 Standing Penalty: 0.50 Fine: 2,565,000.00 ISK Response: Confiscation
Total Standing Penalties (ideally): 0.50 Total Standing Penalties (actual): 0.10 Total Fines: 2,565,000.00 ISK Summary Response: Confiscation
I panicked. What happened next is very strange. The Nav finally registered us as having arrived in Abudban, but not near a gate. We were in the middle of nowhere. When I think about it, there had been a strange lag at the Abudban gate when we came out of cloak, the jump command did not respond quickly and we seemed frozen in space for a moment. That same lag happened at the moment of gate activation. There was a sort of special rift that was visible as my crew and I could see the Abudban gate from the perspective of Avesber yet were not actually there. When we finally arrived in Abudban we had emergency warped to some location in system without having normally appeared near the Avesber gate in Abudban.
I cloaked and immediately checked our passenger quarters 342 passengers were still there. They had not been confiscated, but sure enough, I had been fined 2,565,000 ISK and had lost standing with the republic. My heart recovered. We continued our journey and managed to make it out of Republic space and into Empire space. Once in High sec, we were able to travel uncloaked. How ironic we all felt to breathe a sigh of relief in making it out of republic space in into Empire space. More on that will be reported in the DSTON log in this forumn.
Passengers made it to Center 3 and were greeted at the dock by Elder Gladius. Elder Verin bowed low to Gladius and Gladius in like form to her. This was a true joy to behold.

This is the first time we have been caught. Usually, the instant we come out of cloak, we jump. This is the one and only time it has been otherwise. In our limited experience, the time differentiation between coming out of cloak and gate activation is so minute, that customs doesn't lock on. This time, an anomalous "lag" got us. |

Pins and needles. That was how the trip to Pator was today.
For some time, The Disciples of Ston have been secretly planning to plant communities of former slaves in central systems in the free nations of our cluster. As our Matriculants gain back a sense of identity, there is a growing aggravation with the refusal of the free governments to give them legal access to free space and to change their status so they can be legally free. Goups of former slaves have formed small sub-communities within our Matriculation centers and have volunteered to travel to different places to establish communities against the law and in protest of the injustices of the Republic, Federation, and State. These governments claim to be anti-slavery, yet make it more and more difficult for rescued slaves to live free lives in their territories.
That was big reason for the timing of the Voluval last night. Several in our group went through the ceremony as a confirmation that they are destined for this risky and important act of bravery.
It was logical to begin in Pator. The connections that have helped us in Empire space are helping us in Republic space. We will not say who they are or exactly where we have established out presence in Pator. But, let these former slaves be an agitating presence under the noses of the bureaucrats in Pator until they take action.
121 members of M-Center #3 began the journey. On the way, we ran into two death cans from the same pilot. The first had 9 slave traders on board. We rescued them. What a surprise on their faces to see 121 former slaves to greet them as they boarded. They will soon be on their way to Korama. The second can contained 71 former slaves. We explained our journey to them and asked if they would first like to be brought back to the M-Center before we resumed our trip to Pator. This group of young Brutor men and women all decided that they also wanted to become a part of the new community in Pator. So, 192 men and women made the journey to Pator.
Unlike the last journey aboard the Redemption, this one went completely smoothly. There was great tension and alertness on board at each gate. We passed through State, Federation, and Republic space. The only time we were at ease was through low sec space where there were only pirates at the gates; ironic. Every other gate had a variety of Customs officials and most had one, two, or even three high ranking Customs Commissioners in their capital ships. We were not scanned or targeted, but I for one was nervous the whole time until we docked. Thanks to some Minmatar people of influence, we are being provided free living space for our community in Pator.
We now have communities established in Republic and State Territory. Next on the list are the hypocritical Gallente central systems. The Gallente supposedly value personal liberty above all else, yet they refuse to give rescued slaves legal status as free people. We will establish a community of these persons under your nose to remind you of your hypocrisy.
Wall of Shame:
KIRA Bukandara 9 slavers, 71 former slaves (separate cans)
Continued Wall of Shame: Republic, Federation, and State governments who refuse to give means to reclassify rescued slaves as citizens and legally release them to go on as free citizens where they so choose.

Interesting note: Capsuleers often project avatars that do not speak accurately of their hearts. The first pilot, an Achura belies a sweetness and gentleness of face. How far from the truth as she was ready to let 69 souls die in horror. Now the second face fits the crime.
In Other business:
As promised, the Disciples of Ston have transported a community of 122 former slaves into the heart of Gallente bureaucracy in the system of Villore. We arrived without incident and the "Redemption" performed admirably, cloaking, decloaking, and jumping in excellent synchronous timing. We were neither scanned not targeted. Political allies in Gallente government have provided us sanctuary. We are grateful for the risks these men and women are taking because of real belief in freedom.
But, something smells rotten in Gallente. It is the putrid odor of hypocrisy. Gallente politicians speak with forked tongues on the issue of slavery and fail to act in ways that would provide a true place of freedom for those we rescue.
We now have communities established in Caldari, Gallente, and Minmatar space. |

The Disciples of Ston have opened an extension office for all seven divisions of our corporation in the system of Egbinger. Ston Momaki envisioned at the beginning a presence of the Disciples in lawless places. This system provides for us a base from which to begin working in 0.0 and wormhole space. We will start by staffing extension services of our vocational, acedemic, and development centers. Eventually, we will open extensions of our clone body return service, detention center and homeless shelter. General operations will have a liaison in the new office as well to oversee finances, etc.
We anticipate that many our Matriculants will want to relocate to Egbinger or nearby systems. This is home territory for many of those we have rescued. The facilities in Korama are great, but it isn't the same. Caldari space is, well, Caldari.
The Voluval has confirmed and re-energized my commitment to this work.

I note when a blue can situation occurs because it says a couple things. First, the pilot is somewhat less despicable than others who jet can people and keep their claim on the can until the death of the occupants. Second, the blue can invites rescue, yet most pilots pass it by and won't take the time from their pursuits of profits, war, and whatever else to aid a fellow human being. Sad. SANKOFA |

Sometimes the cost of being consistent in your values is the need to make difficult decisions that enable others to be free. The Disciples of Ston have told the residents of our centers that they are free to go elsewhere if they choose. We do not just say this. We make them aware of other offers. Mr. Ranshad recently criticized the medical care at our facilities and offered to our residents what he believes are better facilities under his care.
While we strongly oppose what Mr. Ranshad stands for and do not believe it is in the best interests of our residents to return to slavery, we will not interfere with the self-determination of those we rescue, even if they wish to return under a holder. I believe our medical facilities are top notch and we do not use leeches and voodoo as accused. However, our residents do need to know that they have other options if they think we are failing in this area. We have had to do this before and we will continue to make these offers available to the residents.
We have presented RanshadGÇÖs offer to the residents of Center #3 and I will be sending a note to the other Disciples encouraging them to do the same. Should any of our residents choose to do do, we will transport them to the Ranshad facility and transfer GÇ£careGÇ¥ to Mr. Ranshad.
We are providing the public copy of RanshadGÇÖs profile as well as his IGS postings to the residents for their independent evaluation. We will report here the results of the offer.
In societies that are free, people are also free to make poor decisions and even those which they may regret in the future. While we will help our residents to make an informed decision, we will not make the decision for them. They must be free to do that.
Mr. Ranshad, I will be sending you a notice requesting coordinates to your facilities should any wish to take you up on your offer.

I and my crew brought these people back to Center #3 with greater confidence than ever before. Our Medical consulting experts are in place in each of our centers and we are pleased with the reports. There are no major problems. The consulting group supervisor said that with a program such as ours where you are bringing in former slaves from parts unknown, there are inevitable risks. One particular risk is that the Amarr are continually engaged in bio-experiments on their slaves to develop resistant strains of vitoxin that only they have the antidote for. This research involves many viral agents and many contagens reside in experiment subjects for many years. Some may be dormant and only activate much later. We interview all the Matriculants, but most if not all who were subject to bio-experiments were not informed that whey were lab rats at the time.
Our Medical consultants are instituting a few new screening procedures and providing training for our M-Center medical teams on what to watch for.

We haven't picked up many slave traders lately, but that changed this afternoon with the rescue of 18 former slaves and 3 of their former masters. In typical slave holder style, they presumed that no pilot would dare renege on a signed delivery contract. I guess these particular slave traders need to get out more. Of course, they will not be going out a whole lot unless you count going on out to our detention Center in Korama or Egbinger. What do the majority of slave traders say when rescued by the Disciples of Ston? Well, at first it is, "where am I?" "Thanks for the rescue." "Where are you taking me?" Many make demands of all absurd sorts. But all end up at some time uttering those all too familiar words, "This must be a mistake."

I never cease to be deeply moved when a rescue happens. Tonight was no exception. I was returning from Korama HQ to where one of our rescue industrials is moored when I came across a jet can at a border crossing. I was flying a reaper and with little cargo space on board. I scanned the can and found 82 people on board, all alive and huddled together in groups. I told them that I could take just a few and then return with a larger vessel to rescue the remainder. Their spokesman responded, "We will all go or we will all stay." I was floored. The bravery of my kinsmen never ceases to make me marvel. I told them that I would transfer them to another can with fresh air and provisions until I could return. I warned them that they may be destroyed or taken as slaves. They agreed to the risk. The Rescue Industrial moored a few systems away is equipped with a full emergency medical crew and accommodations for trauma patients and those in need. I made way quickly, praying that upon my return they would still be there. Thank the Maker! They were.
Once aboard the rescue ship, all 82 settled in for the trip to Matriculation Center #3. I called ahead to have Gladius, Feanor and Verin ready to recieve this large group. This group contained family units and extended family units as well as single men and women and orphaned children. Verin is everyone's grandmother and she was ready for the children when they arrived. This is Sankofa! This is why I will place my life between them and anyone who may seek to bring them harm. I have two stories to share today. One of them is very sad andthe other, disturbing. First, on patrol today, I came across two cans. Heading close to the nearest can, I scanned it and found 17 former slaves aboard. My crew prepared to receive them, and they were brought aboard. This was a group of girls and teen girls. I suspect they were being trafficked. While the medical crew began initial checks, we headed on to the second can. Meanwhile, a group of the young teen girls were brought up to the observation deack to watch the second operation. One young teen girl said to one of my crew, "I have never seen satrs before. I have heard about them, but never actually seen them." The ensign questioned further. Apparently, this girl was kept indoors and hidden her entire life from birth. She had literally never seen stars. This rescue has impacted the whole crew like non other before.
The second can was scanned and to our utter amazement, contained 18 freed slaves. These 18 people had the bio-transponder that identifies them as slaves altered or removed to indicate that they are freed. We have never encountered this before and it presented a puzzling mystery. We are trying to solve this puzzle and will report our findings as soon as we have more information. We'll visit with the passengers after they have had a meal and some rest.
The pilot has been contacted to see if she can give us an account of what happened.

We have investigated the finding of 18 freed slaves dumped at a border crossing by a pilot yesterday and findings raise serious alarms. The pilot was contacted to give an explanation. The Disciples of Ston also looked up the public information on the Pilot. Finally, we interview the freed slaves to gain their perspective on the event. All testimonies agree.
First, freed slaves are those former slaves who have had their bio-transponders modified so that they register on your cargo scanners as GÇ£freed slaves.GÇ¥ We rescue a group of 18 of these people yesterday at a border crossing. This has never been encountered by us before and is likely a rare occurrence since freed slaves are legal to transport anywhere. We thought perhaps the pilot had been attacked and then the wreck subsequently salvaged. That would be the logical explanation and the one we expected. But that is not what happened.
Our first indication of something wrong came with the interview of the freed slaves. After being legally freed by their holder, this group of three families and a few individuals purchased passage out of Amarr space to Jita to look for employment and begin their lives as free citizens. The Pilot they hired was a young pilot, recent graduate of Capsuleer School and member of the 24th Imperial Crusade with the rank of Paladin Crusader.
They knew something was wrong, when they were told to gather their things and the crew of the vessel corralled them into a cargo hold. The next thing they knew, they were in a death can waiting to die. One of the crew members was heard to say, GÇ£so much for your freedom.GÇ¥ That was where we found them.
We wanted to test their testimony by what the pilot had to say. Below is a transcript of her response with our original request beneath. The 24th Imperial Crusade has much to answer for in this incident.

Dear Ms. Marian, My name is Manwe Todako from the Disciples of Ston. Today I rescued 18 freed slaves from a jet can listed as belonging to you. I would be grateful to know why they were jettisoned at the border crossing since they are not illegal in any jurisdiction. We would to know the story if you please of their diestination, etc.
With gratitude, Manwe

Taking over patrol duties from Ston, I came upon a death can with 72 souls aboard. I have begun to feel a deep urge to understand the inner workings of people who do this. What possesses the spirit of a man or woman that he or she would dump living humans like trash to waste away in space? I have decided to take the time and try to get some respnses from the pilots we record on the wall of shame. I simply asking the question, "Why did you do this?"
72 people are glad to be alive tonight. 72 people have a life to look forward to tonight.

A while back we described the transport of 200 new students who had just completed their voluval to our educational facilities in Korama. As of late we have decided to make these reports after the fact rather than before. This is for security reasons to avoid detection of our travel movements when transporting Matriculants. What we didn't say, is that the Voluval involving a total of 300 young men and women also included 100 young people whose marks indicated a different destiny in more dangerous and wild places. This morning I am glad to report that we competed the transport of 100 Matriculants to our new educational facilities in Egbinger. 25 are beginning studies in our academic branch there while the 75 remaining are beginning vocational training. We also delivered needed medical supplies and food stock.
The journey was a tense one for me. The last time I made that journey, I ran into real problems with gate camps. We took the "Redemption" on this journey. This ship is a Minmatar blockade runner. When transporting passengers now, we are cloaking from start to finish even when we do not need to. Extra precautions are being taken to protect our Matriculants. We also were carrying a Khumaak for the new facility lobby. This will be in our development office above the receptionist's desk.
Kudos to my crew, and in particular, my chief computer engineer. In spite of automation, it is still necessary to manually activate cloak at the precise moment between coming out of gate cloak and entering warp to the next gate. One never notices how many customs ships are crowded around gates until you have something illegal to transport. Also, depending on the direction of travel, approaching gates and timing gate activation at the instant of decloak is a hairy process. At one gate, we came within meters of colliding with a Customs Commissioner. We were close enough to see people through their portholes. They never knew we were there, but it was tense. Crew you did upstanding work on this trip. Thanks.
Congratulations to the 100 young people whose Voluval has directed them to Egbinger and to new horizons to fulfill destinies partly know and partly unknown. Blessings on your life journeys.

Early today, upon relieving Ston of Patrol duty and taking my own turn, I happened upon a death can containing 49 living, breathing people on board. My crew is learning some very effective, gentle, reassuring, etc. ways of helping people who are frightened, cold, sick and sometimes near death in these death cans. This rescue was not too bad, because the can had not been jettisoned too long before I found it. There was still ample oxygen available and the temperature had not dropped too far nor the radiation level risen too far. This isn't always the case.
Ston, I wish I could have gone with you to Ealur. I will need to visit our new friends at the Aliastra station there. It sounds as if there is much we can learn from he ways of these people.

This rescue operation almost ended in disaster. Usually, when former slaves are rescued, there is general order and understanding of what is happening. This mixture of people created several moments of chaos aboard the ship. During that time, one of my crew members was attacked by a slaver with a small weapon. Other crew members quickly subdued the man and confiscated the device. There were a few minutes of general pandemonium until the crew convinced everyone that it was a rescue operation and that everyone would be just fine. Back at Center #3, things settled down. I am back on patrol, and the Center administration is trying to sort things out. The confiscated device is being sent to Center #1 where we have electronics experts to figure out what it is. I have contacted the pilot responsible for the death can to try an get information on just why this odd combination of people ended up dumped in space. I have my hunches, but I would like to hear what she has to say.

I just received the following message from Ston regarding the device that was confiscated from the slaver during today's rescue.
Inflicter From: Ston Momaki Sent: 2012.01.14 01:36 To: Manwe Todako,
Dear Manwe, I just received the following memo from Dr. Sakti regarding his analysis of the weapon your crew confiscated.
memo: Inflicter Device To: Ston Momaki From: Dr. Sakti
Mr. Momaki,
The device brought into my lab is a highly midified common medical device for nerve stimulation. The common device is used to stimulate wound areas to increase blood flow and promote scarless healing.
This modified device contains a programed neural scanner that specifically identified pain recepters. The nerve stimulator is highly amplified. The device in effect scans for pain receptors, stimulates them and amplifies the signal that the brain receives. The result is a highly enhanced sensation of pain.
When activiated, the device produces a split second strong burst followed by a lesser sustained stimulation. The result would be extrordinary pain followed by severe pain.
Attached is an image of the device with my thumb and forfinger for scale. The dimensions are approximately 10 centimeters by 2 centimeters. There is an activation switch and indicator light. The device is placed anywhere on the body and the pain sensation will occur at the location of activation.
encl. (Image of Inflicter) Dr. Sakti
The slaver who had the device called it simply, "an inflicter." He said they are commonly used by some holders and by many slave traders. In his words, "The inflicter produces unforgettable pain and is a proficient control device while causing no tissue damage." Dr. Sakti said that the device would be disassembled for further analysis.
This is a disturbing discovery.
Ston
Center #3 Elders report that the crew member is OK but shaken. He said that the first burst was "beyond pain." He had never felt anything so physically terrible before. We only hope that such a device is not in common use in the Empire.

Notes 1/14 Deal was struck with Silas Vitalia on 1/14 at 20:55 hours. 400,000 slaves transferred now former slaves. IGS postings cease until 1/28 21:00 hours. Whatever else can be said of this woman, her motives, her beliefs; we say, GÇ£Thank you on behalf of 400,000 former slaves who are now free.GÇ¥ We donGÇÖt know if you ever intended this, but you are heroine to us and to these.
Weeks ago we purchased a Mammoth. We have wanted to outfit a vessel capable of transporting larger numbers of passengers and to fit it just for that puspose. Stripping 30% of its armor, adding observation decks, converting cargo to passenger births, restaurants, recreation areas, worship facilities, medical decks, meeting areas, bars and lounges, etc, we have created a sort of space liner. We chose the Mammoth for its ten break-away habitable segments for survival in case of attack. The engineering segment in the far stern can be separated and cleared before any explosion. Our designers have fitted this vessel with the maximum amount of open observation and large, spacious areas most of which are located in the front one third of the bow. We are Christening the Vessel "Freedom Liner." Even with expanded passenger space, we will need many, many trips to complete the transportation. Our goals is to make this trip something the newly freed men, women, boys, girls and families look forward to. Our route will be a safe one and the cruises we make, leisurely.
Received temporary facility use from Khanid Transport CEO, Edooba Agh. Being Ni-Kunni, he was a bit more amiable than if we would had to have dealt with the Khanid. Ni-Kunni seem to be just a bit more down to earth than some under the Amarr umbrella. We appreciate his flexibility at this time.
The Cottons and the Greenhands have worked their magic with the folks at Aliastra. Edaine, also having joined Aliastra since departing DSTON, has been working with them to arrange the conversion of a large portion of the facility in Ealur for our use as the largest Matriculation Center in our history. The Cottons and the Greenhands will administrate this Center with the help of the good folks at Aliastra.
Many passengers will also become part of our already established Centers due to the generous help of our Corporate sponsor. That location and corporation shall remain unnamed for security reasons and to protect those who have helped us so much. Few can appreciate how many people have taken such risks.
I have been in contact with Edaine Numenor and though he is no longer a part of DSTON and left the corporation before our agreement with Vitalia was made, he has agreed to the silence as if he were still a member of DSTON. We appreciate his solidarity with us during this time.
I received word today 1/14 that all operations of M-Center #2 have been transferred from Edaine Numenor to Ston Momaki per our agreement. No changes will be felt as the Elders run the day to day affairs of the Center. We will miss Edaine's regular patrols, though.
The first several thousand Matriculants who arrive at Ealur will be those with skills and expertise to set up and prepare community infrastructure for the thousands more who will arrive later. Aliastra is bringing in additional station personal to help with the project. The Cottons and Greenhands are overseeing the design and services of the new community. Aliastra is providing medical staff and equipment for the Center population. The station is large enough to handle many times more population than we are bringing. In some ways, this population will be a lighter burden than the typical Gallente civilian population. Eventually, there will be a training and employment service established by Aliastra for those who want to go that direction. We have offers from several others to assist as well.
Windows; we take them for granted. Many of the freed slaves have extensive space travel experience. You would be surprised how many of them who do have never look out a spacecraft window. They have spent their service in engine rooms or other less pleasant areas on board ships and never looked out at the heavens they were traveling through. Many have not even looked out a station window to see the ships coming and going and the moons and planet they orbit. The Freedom Liner has many windows, observation decks, windowed restaurants and bars, windowed meditation rooms, etc. Passengers have gasped and expressed sounds similar to crowds watching fireworks as were zip past planets and suns at warp. We orbited the Aliastra station before docking on the first journey so the passengers could see this mammoth beauty. The station has three massive units with a smaller fourth unit all connected with spoke-like structures. We sent a camera drone far out so the passengers could see the scale of the station compared to the Freedom Liner. Impressive, even to us who have seen it again and again. This is to say nothing of the view of Khanid Prime V against the nebula; spectacular!
1/15 Brought more passengers to Center #3. Ston had asked a favor while I was in the area. He had GÇ£acquiredGÇ¥ certain pharmaceuticals that our research chemists have been looking to obtain. He asked that I use one of our cloaked vessels to retrieve it from one of our secure containers as these particular GÇÿmedicinesGÇ¥ are illegal. Our Medical Chemists are looking for a way to mute a combination of Frentix and Blue pill for patients in extreme, traumatic pain. These experimental samples will help this research along tremendously.

1/16 Our passengers have noted the vast difference between the station in Khanid Prime and the destination in Ealur. The Aliastra station in Ealur is much larger and open. The station seems to be overkill for a system that has very little commercial traffic as far as we can tell. We are glad for it though, for it is uniquely suited for this situation and vastly under populated. Some may wonder why we are so open about the location of the Ealur station and so guarded about the location of our other centers. It really has to do with our desire to protect the identity of those who have assisted us in the freeing of slaves. Many have taken a great personal risk in the case of our first four centers. Aliastra sees little risk in this enterprise even though they are in Amarr space. Actually, it is a diplomatic win for all involved. Aliastra upholds Gallentean values against slavery while Amarr cannot be accused of un-humanitarian action. This cooperation is politically smart on both sides. No one has to compromise what is expected of them.
I noted on this last trip that there were only 3 total capsuleer pilots in Ealur and I was one of them. This is a quiet system. At the close of the day, we were about 1/8 of the way through transporting 400000 freed former slaves at just 0ver 50,000. I wait to hear from Ta Pang to see if Center #4 has space for 5,000 new residents.
1/17
I have been busy transporting and that is about it. I monitor the Summit com channel quite often when I am flying, but I seldom comment on what is happening there. I have been somewhat disappointed in the blas+¬ sort of discussions lately. They are more about shoe shopping and home decoration than serious matters. In fact, real seriousness is almost not tolerated. Unless you have some sexual joke, profanity or the latest social nonsense, you are threatened with censorship. I witnessed an argument between two pilots each convinced that the other was a heretic and saying so. One of the channel monitors broke in with a hail of profanity and insults and had the nerve and hypocrisy of accusing the two GÇ£religiousGÇ¥ zealots of inappropriate and offensive language. While I thought both the pilots arguing were wrong in substance, the com moderator was the real violator. Basically she said, GÇ£Stop your F---ing arguing so we can get back to talking about sex, parties and shopping.GÇ¥ Is that what the Summit is becoming?
We are about -+ done transporting the new Matriculants to their new locations. Ta Pang indicates that after he consults with Center #4 Elders, he will probably be able to take on several thousand new residents.
1/18 Little to report today other than that the station management and Corporate administration of Khanid Transport has been both patient and great to work with. As long as they see me transporting the freed slaves with as much capacity as I can, they are continuing to help those who remain at the station until it is their turn. Again, special thanks to Edooba Agh for his assistance in this matter. We appreciate both the hospitality of his corporation and his willingness to assist us without considering us the enemy.
1/19 GÇ£Welcome 5650 and Domu Fahlih!GÇ¥ This is a little game we have started on each trip. I am able to accommodate 5651 passengers aboard the Freedom Liner on each trip to Ealur. I canGÇÖt very well learn 400,000 names, but I can identify one person on each trip to make the whole experience more personal. Before each journey, the community picks one little boy or girl to be the GÇ£special representativeGÇ¥ of the whole passenger list for that trip. After boarding, I come onto the com and announce, GÇ£Welcome onboard 5650 passengers and_______.GÇ¥ None of the boys or girls know ahead of time who is chosen to be called out by name. The reactions are great and everyone has fun with it. Hope is rising and can be felt in the air.
1/20 Ealur was quiet today; only one other pilot in system right now. We received heartening news from Edaine Numenor, but I will let him share that news in his time and in his way. I actually had a conversation with the illusive Edaine today on the Summit. Thanks Edaine.
1/21 Last night, I mocked a young Amarrian slave holder on the Summit com channel. That was wrong and I should not have done it. No excuse, but a reason: The amount of suffering we see on a daily basis wears on you. It is hard to tolerate the naivet+¬ of a young Amarrian holder and the deception that somehow they are little saviors sent by God. I guess I should apologize. We are about -+ done with the transport.

22-1/25 Mostly transport duties occupying my time. I made the mistake of thinking that there was intelligent life on the Summit Com Channel, instead I found only arrogant hubris. Expecting to find a minimum of intellectually potty trained people, I found only those who still need to clean the crap out of their intellectual diapers.
The discussion began with an attempt to free the word GǣsupernaturalGǥ from the bonds of religion which have hijacked the word for millennia. My attempt to do so was met with ridicule. If anyone of any level of intelligence ever reads this, I hope you will appreciate my small attempt to explain what I had hoped to accomplish. It is sad that capsuleers generally are so very afraid of the humility that science requires of us, so much so that when faced with the unknown, they cry, Gǣmetaphysics, philosophy, theologyGǪGǥ No, science only flourishes when the unknown is embraced. What else drives science forward?
Several thousand years ago, it was discovered that the full blown relativistic theory of gravity and a fully developed quantum mechanics, point particle theory were unable to be unified as they stood. String theory was developed, augmenting the standard point particle theories that had dominated physics. It did a fair job of reconciling the two but to this day, no one knows if this GÇ£quantum gravitational string theoryGÇ¥ is really GÇ£theGÇ¥ theory that describes reality in our universe. In spite of that, we daily depend on technologies that assume the existence of the unkown, including string particles (in particular, harmonic gravitons) and the multiple dimensions that String and M- mathematical theories demand.
Second point: We commonly accept that the universe is expanding and that this expansion is accelerating. The matter in this universe is not little bits and pieces flying apart as it were, but rather in strands or webs held together by gravity as they spread out. Two problems: 1. There is not enough energy in the universe to account for its accelerated expansion. 2. There is not enough matter/mass in the universe to account for the web like structure that is evident. Scientists, not theologians, not philosophers have postulated to things to account for this. 1. Dark energy: this GÇ£existsGÇ¥ to fuel the accelerating expansion of the universe. 2. Dark matter: this GÇ£existGÇÖ to bind the matter of the universe together in its web-like structure.
Here is the amazing thing; the technologies that capsuleers use every day were developed using the assumption that these GÇ£darkGÇ¥ things really exist. In other words, we daily depend on the unknown for what we routinely use. Scientist use the word GÇ£darkGÇ¥ because they cannot observe or even detect either dark energy or dark matter, only the effect they have on what can be observed or detected. Right now these things are, practically speaking, outside of nature but not reality necessarily. They do not adhere to the laws of nature as they been defined and accepted. In fact, string theory postulates the possibility of alternate GÇ£natures.GÇ¥
Finally, when space-time becomes infinitely curved as it does in a singularity and space itself curves inward faster than the speed of light, the laws of physics are suspended and both time and space as we know it cease to exist at that point. Scientists who are rather humbled by this reality have no problem acknowledging this GÇ£outside of natureGÇ¥ reality. However, try talking about it on The Summit and they will call you an idiot. The saddest part is that this sort of arrogant hubris comes from some that should know better.
1/26 This morning, I passed that sort of GÇ£wall.GÇ¥ The population left in Khanid Prime has dropped below 100,000. We are now past -+ done with the transport. The Khanid station will become increasingly lonely and the Ealur station increasingly bustling. As it should be.
I have instituted a daily science quiz on the Summit just for fun. TodayGÇÖs question was,GÇ¥What do you call an object that is smaller than its Schwarzchild radius?GÇ¥ Each daily question will have something to do with technology or experiences common to capsuleers. Answer? A black hole of course. Questions will be repeated two or three times daily if I am around. Discussion today was fun.
1/27 It was recommended to me by one of the moderators of the Summit to ask Cardinal Graelyn before proceeding with the Quiz. He affirmed the plan and also suggested that I provide a GÇ£fact of the dayGÇ¥ to go along with the science quiz. This I am happy to do.
I had a most delightful discussion after this morningGÇÖs quiz question with a very intelligent pilot. TodayGÇÖs question was; GÇ£Black holes are black because what is collapsing faster than the speed of light?GÇ¥ I was immediately corrected by the always eminent supreme professor, doctor of Sansha wizardry, that collapse was a misleading term. It is frequently used within the Physics community, but there are those who love to nitpick. So let me rephrase, Black holes are black because what is curving inward toward the center of mass faster than the speed of light? Answer? Space-Time.
The fact of the day was, The smallest measurable unit in physics is the Planck unit and it measure, 1.616199(97)+ù10GêÆ35 meters.
We are beginning to see light at the end of the long tunnel of transporting 400,000 former slaves from Khanid Prime to Ealur. Bowman and May Cotton, and Halfred and Bell Greenhand along with the Aliastra people have been fantastic. Kudos also to Khanid transport for not once pressuring us regarding our continued presence on their station. We are grateful.

1/28 At the Aliastra station, the main passenger docking port has two huge observation hab modules at the threshold of the entrance. They are shaped like a disk and offer a 360 degree view of ships coming and going from the station. This system has so little ship traffic, that it is a rare sight to see a ship coming into port. The Freedom liner has been the only regular ship to come and go. The children, in particular love to watch her as she comes in to her birth in the station. It is something I never get to see as I am piloting her both coming and going. Today I dispatched a camera drone to follow me out as I left for Khanid Prime. I can see the fascination these children have. I told them to study hard and work hard and set their goals high. They, too, one day may pilot some great ship.

The last two weeks culminated in the final journey from Khanid Prime to Ealur with the 3100 last passengers to make their way to the new Center. I was able to walk among the embarkation ramps as the passengers board family by family. The administration of this Khanid station is to be commended for their patientce with the process. The Cottons and Green hands have prepared an impressive facility in Ealur. I have missed rescue ops, but Ston has kept that work going well.
Something else occurred on the way to Ealur that shows the unpredictable nature of our work. A pilot by the name of Zsaryna Adrelana contacted me mid journey and the conversation that ensued places the Disciples of Ston in yet another one of those controversial yet critical situations where are values are tested. This Ni-Kunni pilot began the conversation by speaking of a group of scientist in her employ that wished to inquire about working for our organization. She also had a group of captured militants that she wanted to hand over to us and in addition 20 freed slaves. We are used to these kinds of interactions, but what happened next was the most unusual request we have ever received.
She spoke of an adolescent slave that she had purchased from less than an ideal situation. The Matari girl had come to grow attached and love this Holder pilot. While the full story is not yet known, I can only assume that Ms. Adrelana had taught her something of her Matari heritage. The girl had asked her master if she could undergo the voluvol. I replied that I was no expert and that she should contact a Shaman to see if one could undergo the rite while still a slave. That avenue had already been explored to no avail. She invited me to meet the girl and speak with her. What followed is not something we have ever done.
Over a meal, I got to know "Amy" a little. I asked her a lot of questions and we talked about the voluvol and about what being a slave was like for her. She wanted the voluvol, but she didn't want to leave her master, Ms. Adrelana. What was I to say? I asked for their trust. I would take the girl to my tribal elders and ask them to perform the ritual for her. I told Ms. Adrelana that after the voluvol, returning to her or remaining free would be her choice and she would be under no compulsion to return to her master. Amy agreed, Ms. Adrelana agreed. The girl went with me.
As my crew prepared to receive her aboard my ship, I told Amy, "I am going to introduce you to one of our Elders. Her name is Verin, but everyone calls her Grandma. She will help you through this." She is at Center three now and we are awaiting word from the Elders in Eldulf about going there for a voluval. I tld her that if, after the voluvol, she wished to remain free, we would see to it. I told her that after the voluvol, if she wished to return to Ms. Adrelana, we would see to that as well. Trust has been placed in us by all parties involved and we intend to honor their wishes. These are not easy thing to take on and they test our values. I do not covet returning a slave to a holder, but I covet less the prospect of denying a person the self-determination that is their right as a human.
I am also learning that some slaves love their masters and some masters love their slaves. I may be eaten alive for saying that, but it is what it is. Ms. Adrelana says that one day, Amy will be free and given what she needs to make her own way in the world. Call me naive, but I believe her words.
Now we wait to hear from the Elders in Eldulf. SANKOFA |

Most of the day was spent tending to planetary duties. I was able to fly some rescue patrol duty, but no rescues were made as of this report. I was also able to catch up on some Corp administrative duties.
Meanwhile, the young slave girl, Amy was busy with Elder Verin visiting other young Matari who had either recently gone through the voluvol of will be soon. I am concerned , because Amy is a very personable young woman and she will make friends here quickly. How will she feel about going back to her master after meeting fellow youth from her tribe?
In the next few days, Amy will learn more about her heritage through the experiences with her peer than she has her entire life. These issue were discussed with Ms Adrelana, but the reality will be felt strongly. Then there is the voluval. When that happens, Amy will be deeply impacted. Will she wish to return to her master then? Will she feel resentment for her childhood spent in slavery?
I need to sit down and compose a note to Ms. Adrelana to keep her updated on how Amy is doing. Verin has told me that Amy's life before Ms Adrelana purchased her, was a horror. Verin is good at getting to the core of people's inner lives. Verin also told me that Amy misses "master Adrelana" and wishes she could be here.
The Elders in Eldulf said that they need to consult a few days before agreeing to the voluvol. The Elders usually see visions pertaining to the candidates. Having never met Amy, they will need time to consult the spirits before even deciding to do the ceremony. I expect to hear from them in a few days.

May God and all the Host of Spiritual Beings bless Tovil Hadras for liberating 10348 slaves. The Disciples of Ston salute you as a hero of liberty. You are a true example of what a capsuleer is meant to be and do.
A short time a go, the Disciples of Ston took in to our care 10348 former slaves once held captive but no no longer. Thanks to the personal sacrifice of Tovil Hadras, these men, women, boys and girls can now taste freedom.
I am on my way to pick up the Freedom Liner from Ealur to begin the transport. I never would have guessed that we would need the Freedom Liner again so soon. I have sent ahead to the Cottons and Greenhands to prepare the vessel with provisions and crew. Mr. Hadras has also helped provide additional provisions to be brought aboard with the first passengers of two trips.
I am going to ask Halfred and Bell Greenhand to accompany me on the Freedom Liner and be present to welcome this group of 10K+. There will much adjustment for these individuals. The Greenhands are amazing people. They know how to make people at ease. They once were slaves, too. They understand.
What a great day this is. SANKOFA, SANKOFA, SANKOFA! SANKOFA |

The Elders in Eldulf have requested the presence of the young woman Amy for a period of co-meditation. They feel that in this set of circumstances it is important for them to spend direct time in spiritual commune with her before even consenting to the voluvol. I feel hopeful. The Elders are very intrigued by the whole situation, both by the gorl and by the master who would be willing to relinquish her to DSTON with no guarantees. But, let us not presume.
Verin said that the day was spent mostly in quietness. Amy is tired. The last two days have been overwhelming. SANKOFA |

I wanted to give an update on Amy and where we are with her potential Voluval
The usual preparation for the voluval involves weeks of concentrated time with a vherokior mystic. This Essence Instructor mentors the candidate in the tribal legends, meditation, clearing of the mind and focusing on individual destiny. The Voluval is shaped by the union of personal and divine influence. Preparation cannot be overstated. That brings me to a great concern for Amy. She has not had the weeks of time to prepare nor the life time within the tribal environment to anticipate accurately what the voluval is about.
AmyGÇÖs process will be accelerated and artificially short compared to others. I do have confidence in the Essence instructors in Eldulf. Amy will spend concentrated time with a group of them as they begin focused co-meditation. How well she carries on this discipline will have great impact on the recommendation of the Elders either for or against her Voluval rite. They have asked for a full week of focused time in meditation and to seek destiny visions for the girl.
Amy, Verin and myself begin our journey to Eldulf today. There are the standard safety concerns regarding detection along the way. Let me take this time to beat the old drum of our governments and Concord getting off their collective butts and allowing for a legal mechanism to change the status of rescued slaves to GÇ£free person.GÇ¥ As long as they are still treated as contraband, our work is seriously limited.

Jahcron is at our academic center in Korama right now, so it may be a few days before Manwe can take covert transport over to bring him into Amarr space where Mr. Thessalonia wants to do the transfer. Mr. Thessalonia has promised that Jahcron will maintain autonomy until and if such a time he chooses to join Nation. At that time, he would have to submit to an implant of course. If he chooses not to join, TSF will then have to provide transportation to wherever he would want to go. While I would have no issues with doing that, the last part of this was not something we discussed, Ston. Frankly, as of late, I am reconsidering working with you guys at all, for any purpose.
If you do not wish to provide transportation at the end of the experience, then we would be happy to do so. Ston did not wish to intrude or make you feel as though I were checking up on you. Ston was trying to be polite and not make it seem that we needed control of the whole process from start to finish. I think you have misjudged Ston. If you want to be critical, be critical of me. Things have been extremely busy. I just had a visit from Edaine Numenor. He showed up at Ealur with a group of 60 former slaves that he had just rescued and a group of 153 former slaves that he said were liberated through the generosity of an anonymous donor to NUVOS. Then he added, "This is a drop in the bucket. NUVOS is dedicated to sustained effort until DSTON is Matriculating at least one million former slaves. Keep the Freedom Liner warmed up, because you are gonna need it."
I hope Bowman and May Cotton can swing a deal with the SIsters soon. If Edaine says he NUVOS is going to work towards another 500,000 Matriculants, he means it. I hope to hear from the Cottons sometime tonight or tomorrow. SANKOFA |

We are now seeing former slaves of Gallentean, Caldari, Unknown, and even Amarrian descent from the slave markets of Khanid. This is beside the majority who are from the Minmatar tribes. Our challenge will be to take a careful census and to make sure that all cultural, racial and ethnic concerns are addressed and to find way to return those who wish to find their former homes. When they find out that their fate is more pleasant than death they are often surprised and doubtful. We have even seen some softening in some after a time.
There is a group of slavers who are interested in participating in a rehabilitation programs in one or more of our centers. We need to be very careful of the sub-community we pick for this program. But the Elders have been focussing on this over a couple months now and we are close to beginning the program.

At the end of my patrol shift I brought back 32 people from a rescue and as it was the end my shift, I exited pod and went up to the residents to visit with some of M-Center #3 people. Five young men ran up to me and said, "You haven't reported our rescue yet." I was taken aback and asked them what the deal was. They told me that people in the center would often monitor the IGS and point out which rescue they were in. I looked back at my logs and sure enough, I had forgotten to report the rescue of these five. It was an oversight on my part. But what was more interesting to me was how the people are identifying with that moment in time when they became free. These five young men reminded me of the importance of rescue work and the need to continue it.
On another note, the pilot Unknown Pharaoh is a fellow Vherokior and probably of a close bloodline with my family. What a shame! It boils my blood to see a brother doing this to his own people.

26 men, women and children were rescued today out of a death can discovered while on patrol. Since we began this work, the pro-slavery propaganda wizards of the Amarr Empire have tried to suggest that those we rescue on these operations are hardened criminals trying to escape the empire and justice due them there. Those we rescue are anything but hardened criminals. Many are slaves that have been so abused and worked so mercilessly, that they are no longer of use to their Amarrian masters and so sent for sale in the Caldari markets of Jita. Some are slaves destined for the human trafficking markets of the capsuleer wealth fueled systems of Caldari and Gallente space. So, the Amarrians slavers call these unfortunate ones hardened criminals and spread that word about. The big disappointment is that people who ought to know better, believe this propaganda.
Let me tell you who these rescued ones are: They are enslaved members mostly of the Minmatar tribes. They are men, women, boys, girls, moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, single people, orphans, the elderly, the sick, etc. Do we look into the background of those we rescue? Yes, of course, but first we treat their wounds, feed their empty stomachs and clothe their bodies with clean raiment. The criminals are not these rescued slaves, but those who enslaved them and those who dumped them into space to die.
I do expect to be accused of harboring criminals, in fact we do. They are called slavers, and sometimes militants or terrorists. These are separated from the slaves that are rescued and are placed in the DSTON detention centers in Korama and Egbinger. If being kept from capital punishment or generational slavery is considered harboring, then they are harbored.

The second rescue was the typical scenario of 2 slave traders illegally transporting a group of slave out of Amarr space to be sold in the squalor of Jita. Since the fare was pre-paid, the pilot had no compunction to take the risk of being caught by customs. So, into space the who group is jettisoned.

Thanks to first aid provided by the former slaves, they survived and were alive when I discovered them. They are now in our medical facilities undergoing treatment. It is always somewhat of a false distinction to call one rescue more meaningful than another, but when there is a rescue of only one, it is definitely unique. When a whole crews' attention is focussed on the value of one single human life, something profound happens. Now to a different issue. Should the Disciples of Ston "release" slavers rescued from death cans?
Release where? to whom?
The Disciples of Ston hold to a strict opposition to the death penalty and to generational slavery of any kind. When a man commits a crime, we do not believe that his wife and children, grandchildren, etc should be enslaved for it. We do not believe he should be executed. He should be punished appropriately and ideally rehabilitated.
The Slavers we rescue are breaking Amarrian and Caldari law by engaging in slave trade across borders. When such slavers are caught for these crimes, they become and great embarrassment to both the Amarrian and Caldari governments. Slavers are executed or generationally enslaved themselves for such crimes. This is unconscionable to us. We offer a merciful alternative in our detention and rehabilitation programs. Most slavers are grateful not to be returned to Amarr; they know what will happen to them there.
No Amarrian government agency has opposed this nor confronted it. We have invited the input of said government, but no one has responded. We certainly will not release these individuals into the hands of unscrupulous capsuleers and we will not risk releasing them only to have executed or enslaved. SANKOFA |

Yesterday, our centers in Dresi and Aharalel received a large number of liberated slaves from the Khanid Kingdom. Elders Verin, Gladius, and Feanor and their staffs received them in the numbers outlined below. The Cottons and Greenhands were present to assist in the initial reception and care of the new arrivals. 5000 additional reception staff were ready at each center to help the new arrivals in the initial steps of Matriculation. Our thanks goes out to the Minmatar Corporation Freedom Extension for their assistance and additional resources in this effort.

Some periods of time are very slow in the rescue work that we do. We hope this is due to reduced volume of attempted slave trade between empires and not just to bad luck in missing those who are abandoned. This week was one such week until this morning. This group was rescue just a little while ago. I have brought them safely to our temp center. Soon we will see them on to one of the Dresi communities.

31 people were rescued from a death can this morning. Most of them had never met a capsuleer beofre let alone even heard of what a capsuleer is. Why should they? They were slaves. They only knew that a pilot was hired to take them into Caldari space and deliver them to a new master. That the pilot was a capsuleer was irrelevant. The first capsuleer these slaves personally met was me and they didn't even realize I was one. The world of these now free people will become much larger. The spark in their eyes to learn and become aware is present just as it is in all humans.
Truly, capsuleers are not gods or demi-gods or anything that approaches the divine. However, many are devils. The power given to capsuleers leans much more easily to evil than it does to good. The choice to do good with our power is more difficult and a far more lonely decision.

Four rescues on my patrol shift saved a total of 96 lives. Human trafficking has not seemed to diminish so our work and the continuing work of others who also rescue the unfortunate, will continue as long as the need continues. What was thought by 4 slavers to be a well planned sales excursion into Caldari space, turned into disaster for them, the guard hounds they brought along and the slaves they intended to sell illegally. Capsuleer pilots don't necessarily care to fulfill their promises to complete the trip if they perceive the risk to great or find greater profit elsewhere.
37 people were saved in this rescue and 9 hounds will be retrained as service dogs through our vocational program.
I am currently in Mamenkhanar having arrived here to receive a group of homeless people. Later today, after I discover a bit more about them, I will bring them to one of our homeless shelters. We maintain permanent homeless shelters at all 7 of our offices. No homeless are turned away. The homeless are often shuttled from station to station and just left without food, clothing, or shelter. In some places, the homeless problem is becoming catastrophic. We want to remind the community the we will receive any homeless into our shelters.
We wish to thank the pilot who took the time to care for these homeless and to seek us out to provide a place for them. Thank you.

Ston tells me that he should be back on patrols by the end of the week.
I requested an explanation from the pilot who jettisoned the 5000+ slaves day before yesterday. Here is his reply with my request below it:
Re: Your Reason? From: Phyrike Sent: 2013.07.23 08:26 To: Manwe Todako,
I noticed that there was a 400% return rate on bringing them from Amarr to Jita, so i filled my hull. Before I entered Caldari space, I was notified that slaves are illegal in Caldari space. I had a large amount of ISK in my hull, so I just put them in a can. Only cost me 5mil and I learned something. I knew it was a curious thing to leave on a gate, so it made leaving them easier.
Your Reason? From: Manwe Todako Sent: 2013.07.22 12:20 To: Phyrike,
Pilot, I happened upon the 5144 slaves that you jettisoned at the Kaap/Niarja border. I was able to get all of them to safety.

My apologies for breaking regulations and to the Disciples for any embarrassment it may have caused. I assume this is in reference to my interaction with pilot Phyrike regarding the 5000+ slaves he jettisoned into space since that entry has been removed. For anyone who may have missed it, the breach of CRC Guidelines involved the direct posting of an evemail response to my request of him to provide a reason for the jettison of the slaves. I believe it was rule #9 that I violated. I apologize to Phyrike for posting his response rather than reporting his response. Reporting a response allows for plausible deniability whereas posting does not. Its a good reminder to re-read the rules now and then SANKOFA |

In an age before political correctness, to imagine that the farer sex would be guilty of dumping deathcans into space would have been laughed at. There was a time when to nurture life and protect the helpless was a feminine instinct. Perhaps these comments invite trouble, but I am still more saddened when I see three out of four of the pilots reported above to be women. Are men and women liberated to become ruthless? Do we fight for equality just so we can all be equally evil? For the capsuleer it certainly seems to be true much of the time. Hmm. SANKOFA |

So I erased it before posting. Phew. These are the rescues made over the last few days. While I was not in DSTON, I occasionally made rescues during my travels. A project I hope to complete before too long is to revisit these small communities and see if they might be interested in joining the larger DSTON centers throughout high security space. Record keeping and reporting has always been a rather tedious chore for me so its easy to get behind in the task. These are the recent rescues. I have patrolled the new low sec system twice now and no cans were found. This, however is not indicative of anything as it is often the case that nothing is found even in the busy systems sometimes even for an extended period. When I do the Diaderi to Zoohen run, I will regularly pop in the 0.4 system and check.
I have also managed a couple weapons confiscations along the way. Eventually, I will consolidate these at our corp hangar in Yulai. If Ston wants to move them on to Bahromab, he can do it at his convenience. SANKOFA |

The route back passes through Tourier which is the system neighboring one of our patrol systems, Diaderi. We decided to fly over and check the system. There was an abandoned can (blue) closer to the gate so we set course to intercept it. before reaching transport range another vessel looted the can. We waited. Sure enough, he ejected a yellow deathcan. We made the rescue and escaped across the border and on to station in Tourier. Rescues reported above. A Comment, I have not seen a agri-dome quite like the one I am currently using in Tourier for rescues performed in Diaderi. It is in the Proteque station and it is a world of itself. Our 500+ rescued are a tiny dot in the whole scope of this place, but we all seem welcome here. I am very satisfied with security and the quality of life available here.
As for the confiscation a few days ago, I have not had the time to yet sort through all that was picked up. If I get to it, I report the ISK worth of the weapons and offensive systems in the confiscation. SANKOFA |

Its been busy. At the conclusion of yesterday's major and time consuming action, 8 scientists were rescued from a gate trap set by a group of pirates. At about the turn of the hour I received word that I would need to take a few of Ston's patrols, so I headed up to Niarja and ran a couple shifts there. I left and headed back to Tourier once Tahrmal was enroute to Niarja. We'll prioritize these two areas for the next week until Development decides what to do.
I might comment that the rescue of the 8 scientists was part of a rescue/confiscation op that took a long time to complete. In multi-can cases, there is a right and a wrong way to go about it. You cannot be impatient especially when there are pirates eager to pop you. You learn to wait out timers on station or cloaked. If you are flagged, an experienced pirate can have you tackled to popped in seconds. I feel very bad for Ston. What happened is very regrettable all around. We need uniform and safe (relative) practices for these situations.
I will be volunteering to serve on the planning group to draw up uniform guidelines. In the mean-time I will refrain from all confiscations until cleared to resume. SANKOFA |

This report comes at the completion of one Diaderi-Zoohen run. Often, there is nothing. Today, there were two deathcans both in Diaderi and both right on the gate.
Progress is being made in the Development workgroup assigned with the task of working up uniform guidelines for both rescues and confiscations. Guidelines for confiscations with be much more conservative. We feel that if we are to do confiscations at all anymore, the risk to crew and ship has to be greatly reduced. SANKOFA |

I am happy to report these rescues and more than anything, that is what this work is about. But, be that as it may, I had two confiscation opportunities today that were very low risk, but I had to pass on both of them because of the current ban on confiscations. What is really irritating is that one of the crossings I patrol tends to see small arms drops on the opposite side due to customs regs. I know that when we confiscate that these guns will never end up in the street, never be in th hands of violent gangs, never in the hands of terrorists. It galled me to leave it.
We are getting close to a uniform policy in these matters, but calling the shot is not completely in my hands. Development has the final say. The scenario for both of these confiscations would have been well within the recommendations I will help present to Development. "Patience," I say to myself. SANKOFA |

The seventh and first days are upon us again and time to make more alert observations while on patrol. It is my consistent observation that these two days bring more danger than any other days. For whatever reason there is more piracy on these days and more traps set, no less in the areas we patrol. While I am anxious to be successful in the purpose of our patrols, I am equally anxious to keep my crew's and my own skin intact in the process.

All of these rescues took place in Diaderi as this system has been the most active overall in my patrol area. I have been able to spend some FTL conference time with Development. I and very encouraged with the direction we are heading. We are beginning to look at commissioning specialized equipment and crews designated for confiscation work. eventually we envision establishing dual equipped bases in distinct patrol zones with easily accessed and exchanged rescue and confiscation vessels. This is good news from my perspective but I can feel the frowns already from Tahrmal and Ston because there will be even more extended training requirements to fly the confiscation equipped vessels. Crews will be smaller than those in our rescue vessels.
We'll flesh out the details in the weeks to come. SANKOFA |

DSTON is trying to decide where to moor the DSS Confiscat. We want to pick an area where there is both rescue activity and confiscation work and where the pilot can quickly change over from a rescue vessel when the need arises. It will likely be in the Niarja patrol areas as it sees more traffic than any of our other patrols. Neither Ston, not Tahrmal can yet pilot the Confiscat so I am in no hurry to put her into service.
Rescues are slow but regular in this patrol area. As I right this, I am waiting out the timer before resuming the circuit. SANKOFA |

Whether a rescue is big or small, we are most happy to make it. When it settles in to a rescued person, "I'm not going to die." and then, "these people are not going to harm me," hope begins to build in their spirits that is visible. We see that hope in the big rescues and in the small rescued like this one. Its part of why we do what we do.

I am logging this report while moored in a Core Complexion Station in Zoohen in Amarr Territory. For those unfamiliar, Core Complexion is a Minmatar Corporations, one of many operating in Amarr territory, apparently with the blessing of the Empire. The compliment is also true with Amarrian corporations operating freely in Republic space. What is also interesting is the cooperation between these different national corporations with each other. Commerce make strange bed-fellows. It is true, for example that a Minmatar corporation will sometimes provide medical services for an Amarrian corporation contracting capsuleer pilots to transport security guards, for example, to a Minmatar station for medical exams before they go on duty on board Amarrian transports.
I state this only to establish the reality of certain practices that are common. The point of it may come later. SANKOFA |

Sorry I got behind on my reports. THe third one has no pilot listed because the pilot was parked on the deathcan when I made the rescue. It looked like a trap so we were tense when we made the rescue and I didn't take the time to record the pilot name. We made the rescue without any problems anyway.
I'm always a bit amused when an Amarrian loyalist suddenly becomes concerned that people might be held against their will. Hmm. DSTON is not in the practice of holding anyone against his will. The exception might be those residing in our Yulai detention center. Known criminals, prisoners and slavers are held there. The main reason for this is our opposition to the death penalty and generational slavery. No one would be handed over to any other entity unless those punishments were off the table. SANKOFA |

By far the easiest way to loot a jetcan is simply to loot all and not take the time to separate out different items. It is also the fasted and most secure way. The blue can look suspicious to me because rarely do non-contraband blue cans last long in high traffic areas. Sure enough, there was a single human survivor on board. We wish they all could be blue deathcan rescues but they are becoming rare in our work. Confiscations have resumed but with a greater and more scrutinized level of caution. Risk cannot be eliminated but it can be reduced significantly.

Some of these places feel like they are going to fall apart all around you. In fact, as I write this, I am in a station so run down, that I am preparing to move the Matriculants we care for here to the Creodron station a few systems over. That is a very nice station with excellent habitation facilities. All I can say is that some entities need to look at their infrastructure. SANKOFA |

I am using a break between patrol shifts to take a closer look at the habitation setup at our center in Tourier. This is an impressive place and the space is more open that anyone might imagine as available on a station. There are great possibilities for any people here including the people we rescue from deathcans. I might eventually consolidate our Tarta and Ashokon center to either here in Tourier or Aydo... Across the AU's of our Cluster millions die each week due to the ravages of war, famine, greed, and slavery. Their lives vanish like a wisp of vapor. Children become orphaned, wives become widows, men become widowers, etc. Seldom is there any acknowledgment of their lives, not even their existence. From the start of the DSTON Matriculation program, we chose to make public acknowledgment of the lives we rescue from death and slavery and to publish the names of those capsuleer pilot responsible. These logs are available for view in our Matriculation Centers and they are noted with appreciation by those "small" "insignificant" "uninteresting" lives that we chose to rescue. If this is like bamboo under the finger nails of some, then so be it. Most of these rescued ones are my brothers and sisters and I believe their lives are worthy of mention.
So let the 44 people acknowledged above know that your lives mean a great deal to us at DSTON. So often, it is just easier for pilots to select "jettison all" as opposed to figuring out what is legal vs what is contraband. The value of life doesn't seem to enter into the picture at all. To have one's soul disregarded in such a way is unnerving to non-slave "rescuees" in particular. We offer janitors better pay and good working conditions for as long as they want. Since patrolling between Zoohen and Diaderi, I have confiscated 137.5 tons of small arms. This area of patrol contains multiple crossings (Amarr, Gallente, and Concord). As such it is a ripe zone for terrorist and militant activity. Knowing that these weapons will never make it on the streets nor harm innocent citizens is a good feeling. The rescue of 54 Slaves was unexpected. Protocol dictates that with confiscations, the transfer is made quickly and cloak activated immediately when possible. Once a can is looted, owner information is no longer accessible. In this case we followed protocol as if conducting a confiscation and so missed the pilot info. SANKOFA |

A little more than and hour after this rescue, I had an opportunity to have a very short conversation with Nauplius' new accomplice, Rhexenor lo. I began the conversation by saying that I had always heard that the Brutor hold their tribal heritage close to the heart and if that was true for him as well. He responded by indicating that he was a slave pilot. I'm not sure exactly what it means for a capsuleer to describe himself as a slave pilot, but I didn't question that directly. I did ask him if he wanted to be free. He said that he did not. The conversation ended.
Some may consider what I am about to say strange, but there is a point to it. I have always thought that the Brutor are a very handsome and beautiful race both in appearance and in other traits. My Brutor friends are a marvelous addition to my life because of who they are in their uniqueness. It is a sad state that Rhexenor lo seems to do all he can to hide or mute his heritage. It is sadder still that he willingly works for a man who wishes to kill his brethren. There have been many conversations on this forum about the relative merits of diversity even of conflict between cultures and races. I agree that conflict between our diverse cultures is inevitable because of incompatible values that surface from time to time. However, I do not believe that our conflicts need to be violent, bigoted or hateful. If fact, If we embrace the feelings of conflict with others as a positive force to enrich ourselves, we will grow. I feel deep pity for this pilot I met today but I will try hard to hold out some hope for him. SANKOFA |

When we come across an abandoned deathcan we record pilot information as usual and our logs keep that record. However, we do not publically report it simply because a blue can rescue is far safer and encourages any passerby to make the rescue. Such was the case with the first rescue listed above. SANKOFA |

Should crew members, etc of pirate ships captured in battle be given to Shansha Nation Loyalists in exchange for other prisoners? That is the question as some are phrasing it that is going on in another thread. I hope that the discussion could be carried on in its own thread to broaden the participation.
Over the course of our history, DSTON has transferred one person to TSF at that person's specific request. This has happened only once though it almost happened with a two other aged individuals seeking to live out their remaining years. In the end they chose to stay in the community of their kin. The one was different from prisoner exchanges as there was no exchange or anything we received from TSF. Since then we have had no dealings with the organization.
As a rule, we oppose such deals. Reasons have already been debated without end. Perhaps those gifted in debate will sharpen the issues somewhat more in days ahead. SANKOFA |

There is some talk about the possibility of yet another planning retreat; this time in Khanid space at a location yet to be determined. Development will give the details for public notice when they feel it is appropriate. This retreat would establish any changes to patrol protocol and organization direction for the near future. To my crew and I, the little yellow diamonds on the scanner scream are like strobe lights when entering a patrol zone. When there are multiples like in this instance, one really perks up. This was the ideal kind of multi-deathcan rescue in that all three were in close proximity to each other and the gate. We were glad to be able to rescue all without incident. SANKOFA |

Four deathcans were in relatively close proximity but only three could be reasonable rescue in one flight. The fourth was successfully rescued after the timer expired. I have had no direct dealings with the Kameiras in my duties with DSTON but I hope together with others that this is a good things for those we have found in our care. We watch with anticipation. As to the translation that would likely be true at some of the Matari stations in the area (cf Core Complexion in Zoohen) but not at Proteque. Their Stations are top notch There it may be paid adverts or something. I recommend staying clear of the any overnights in Core Complexion. "System Failures" are common. I am familiar with the voice he refers to in Proteque and I believe it is supposed to be un-translated. Maybe its subliminal. SANKOFA |

An initial medical exam is routine after a rescue and each person receives appropriate care to remedy any injuries, treat infections, and provide for proper and remedial nutrition. We've had this happen before, but it is always disturbing. Elite slaves, who are used for demanding physical labor, are often in bad condition when we rescue them. Battered by years of unrelenting brutal labor, they are often worn beyond their years. We usually guess their age much higher than it is. This man was 35 years of age, but we thought him to be between 45-50. Stress fractures, compacted vertebrae, chemical induced skin disorders and overall just worn out; that is how I would describe this single deathcan victim. We suggested that he stay in the med facility for at least 24 hours, but he insisted on joining other recently rescued people in the Agridome. We suspected and he confirmed that since he was past his usefulness as a laborer, he was on his way to be traded in the illegal medical/pharmaceutical slave market in the State, likely in the catacombs of Jita 4/4. How easily we make assumptions about people on the basis of their looks, race, family background, citizenship, etc. But often, our assumptions are wrong; sometimes very wrong. In my own family, for example, are widely divergent beliefs religiously, politically and economically. Do we kill each other over it? No. My sister is the consummate pagan and her spirituality is very different from my own theism. Neither of us is threatened by the other and we love each other as a brother and sister ought. We know what boundaries to set when we are together and what lines need not be crossed in conversation. Keeping peace isn't rocket science but it does take discipline and intention. If we do not start to apply these disciplines in our cluster and across our cultures we will extinguish ourselves. Many particulars in such a task are sticky but we can begin by marginalizing the extremes and coalescing the center. SANKOFA |

Tahrmal is returning to the Niarja patrol zone soon and I will be deployed for a short time in our HQ in Yulai for the purpose of equipping a standby fleet so that we can react quickly to any ship losses. The goal of this is to lose as little time as possible in recovery after a loss. After finishing that work, Development will decide on my next deployment. SANKOFA |

Two Disciples are on active patrol rotation and one is on administrative duty. To the one on administrative duty falls a myriad of tasks including transport of passengers, refugees and materials to the various centers operated by DSTON. Pilots occasionally request that we take in refugees obtained by a number of different circumstances. This report covers some of that and falls under the basic category of M-Center reporting.
1293 homeless men, women and children were transported to the Ation Shelter.
840 war refugees were transported to the Ation Shelter.
Over 2300 conscientious objectors were given asylum at our Yulai facilities.
Several new hires were transported to their new duties and orientation in Yulai. These include forensic experts and recent graduates in the various sciences.
20 Slaves were among those transported. Since this required direct station transfer, I was able to meet in person the pilot who arranged all of these new additions. He shall remain anonymous, but I feel it necessary to note that along with all these people, he also provided tons of material support. We appreciate that.
Finally, 2,000 tons of polytextiles ordered by the Mannar and Coriault groups were delivered to Ation. 2,000 tons! Yes. Just what they will do with all that material, we don't know. Some mention was made of improving the style and appearance of those in our M-Centers.

I have greatly appreciated the help of other independent pilots who have contacted me and alerted me to the presence of deathcans in my patrol area. Today I was off duty when a message came in about two deathcans in Diaderi. The standby crew for the Beacon was already on board and we got to site in short order and made the rescue. In this case 19 people were saved simply because a pilot took the time to send a short message. SANKOFA |

There were problems looking up pilot Narq Lokrar in the pilot data base. This was an unusual rescue and it may take some time to sort out the detals of how most of these people ended up in the same deathcan. One possible answer is that they may have been intended victims of a blood cult ritual. Between the rescue the posting of this report, I was marked with a terrible standing rating by a pilot named Funk. No explanation was givien and I don't recall any interaction with her in the past. We'll visit with those we rescued to see if we can make heads or tails of it.
The prisoners and Kameiras mentioned by Ston are now in two separate locations in Yulai.

Unfortunately, 132 people is the passenger capacity of the DSS Beacon. The Beacon is assigned this particular patrol route because usually the rescues are small in number. There were two deathcans, one with 500 and one with 10 on board. 132 were rescued and assistance was called for hopefully within ten minutes. Ston headed over from Niarja, 13 jumps away and made it within 10 minutes but only the second deathcan remained. He rescued the ten in that can but the other can was gone. We hope they were rescued.

Rescue Report: 120 blood slave marines from the clutches of blood cultists in Null Delve
The blood cult uses torture, fear, terror to intimidate and control. Some cult groups use slave soldiers under the constant threat of torture and blood cult ritualistic death to press their service. Many such units "serve" in blood space. These "slave soldiers" are one of the groups that the Disciples of Ston seeks to help in our work in Delve. We are happy to report an initial rescue of 120 such slave soldiers from blood cult hands. They came to us in 4 units of 30 each not long after I set up HQ in Shenda. Shenda provides for us a good HQ far from our other operations where we may conduct rescue work in Delve with caution and prudence. These 120 will no longer be forced to serve with the threat of blood letting and horrible torture. I see we will likely have much work to do in this region.
Delve is a dark, sinister and dangerous place to live and work. We will by necessity keep our deployments here limited for the emotional sake of our crews and staff. SANKOFA |

In these horror houses, slaves and a host of other captured, tortured and psychologically tormented individuals are forced to either endure or to commit horrid acts. Blood Cultists "decorate" the exterior of their station in spattering that looks like blood; part of their overall MO of terror and fear. The blood cult is large and sophisticated enough to require significant executive leadership and administrate. Recruiting those with the skill and intellectual acumen necessary for such work is difficult when the beliefs are so extreme. So, kidnapping becomes the way. We managed to liberate a group of business executives destined for forced service. We have also intercepted two weapons shipments that were directed to enforcing the bondage of slave populations in stations where resistance was forming. Overall, there is more work than we can do, so we do what we can. SANKOFA |

Quick report from DSTON operations in Delve:
We have rescued Slaves, Business executives, the homeless, scientists, soldiers, etc in operation very unlike deathcan rescues. We help those we can whenever we can in very ugly situations. We have a border Center in Shenda and one deeper in Delve. I am currently back in High secc arranging for an infrastructure base in Zinkon that will help with supply issues etc.
Don't go to Delve unless you have compelling reasons. Even then, be extra cautious.
